Doodle Prompt

Draw a simple baby in a manger with four words written around him: โ€œWonderful Counselor,โ€ โ€œMighty God,โ€ โ€œEternal Father,โ€ and โ€œPrince of Peace.โ€ You can add a small crown above the baby to show he is the promised King.

Head Summary

Hundreds of years before Jesus was born, God promised that a child would come who would rule and rescue Godโ€™s people. This child is not just any baby. He is given to us, and he carries the weight of the kingdom on his shoulders. His names show what he is like: he gives wise guidance (Wonderful Counselor), he is truly God (Mighty God), he cares for his people like a father (Eternal Father), and he brings deep, lasting wholeness (Prince of Peace).

Heart Prompt

Which of these names for Jesus feels closest to your heart right now: Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Eternal Father, or Prince of Peace? Why? How does it change the way you think about Christmas to remember that Jesus is a gift โ€œfor us,โ€ not just a cute baby in a story? Where in your life do you most need Jesus to be your Counselor, your God, your Father-like caretaker, or your bringer of peace?

Hands Practice

As a family, pick one of Jesusโ€™ names from this verse to focus on each day or each mealtime this week. For example: โ€ข Wonderful Counselor: ask Jesus for wisdom about a decision. โ€ข Mighty God: praise him for his power over sin, death, and fear. โ€ข Eternal Father: thank him for his gentle, never-ending care. โ€ข Prince of Peace: ask him to bring peace into a specific conflict or worry. Pray one short, simple prayer each time, using that name of Jesus on purpose.

Family Question

If you were telling a child who had never heard of Jesus who he is, how could you use these names to explain what he is like?
